Circuit training, as the name suggests,
includes placing of the equipments in a circle. This allows
a trainee to keep exercising and use equipments without
being interrupted. England professors R.E Morgan and G.T.
Anderson of University of Leeds developed circuit training
exercise program after the World War II. Their goal wasn’t
to just develop strength from training, but also to increase
cardiovascular endurance at the same time. Shortly after,
circuit training became very popular in England, leading
the universities to use this method of training. At the
same time, circuit training not only strengths the foundation
of physical strength but also showed good effects in physical
rehabilitation.
This training method doesn’t integrate a resting time,
but instead the alteration to the next prescribed exercise.
From the moment you start exercising to the moment you
stop, the time needed is only approximately 15-30 minutes.
The original circuit training system consisted of using
traditional fitness equipments. Not only was the cost
high, the training load was also heavy. All it took was
a few errors in utilizing the equipment to cause sports
injuries. This caused barriers that caused circuit training
to be unsuitable for the general public. In the 80’s,
American entrepreneurs developed hydraulic fitness equipments,
substituting the traditional usage of heavy weight equipment.
When using hydraulic equipment, not only can the user
adjust the resistance levels, but the resistance will
also adjust itself depending on the speed. This factor
makes the equipment very suitable for circuit training. |
